King’s College of the Philippines partners with Guinaoang National High School (GNHS) through the KCP College of Information Technology’s (CIT) adopt-a-school extension program, which aims to enhance GNHS’s digital connectivity. On September 11, 2024, both parties formalized the partnership through the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the GNHS campus.
The CIT Dean, Ginard S. Guaki, spearheads the partnership that aligns with the CIT SPARK program, with the end goal of enhancing GNHS’s technological capabilities until they achieve self-sufficiency. The five-year initiative includes quarterly visits from the CIT department to provide technological assistance as determined by the phases of the project.
The CIT team started Phase 1 of the project, which includes project evaluation and improvements to GNHS’ network infrastructure. The team conducted initial network design and mapping, device configuration and installation, along with training and handover to the designated personnel.
The subsequent phases foresee the involvement of CIT students, who will deliver training for the GNHS faculty and students as well. Both institutions are expected to benefit from this educational collaboration. Guaki stated in his speech, “You learn from us, we learn from you,” implying a healthy avenue for learning between the schools.
