Student’s Academic League of Technology (S-ALT), the official student body organization of College of Information Technology, organized a much-awaited i3Day. The name i3Day started in 2018 as the department’s version of IT week and sports fest. This year marks the seventh year that the department celebrate this annual event with a theme, “Sailing New Horizons – Collaborate, Innovate, and Dominate.” The goal this year is to showcase talents and skills of CIT students while highlighting the different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Rommel Ligligon and Sarah Mae Badol, governor and vice governor of S-ALT, together with the rest of the S-ALT officers successfully started the i3Day 2024 on October 07, 2024 at the Ebenezer’s Conventions Center. Several events were highlighted during the first day which includes the unit banner showdown and mascot competition. Sports events kicked off with basketball and volleyball joined by CIT athletes representing their different units. While others enjoy the fun of sports, academic competitions were not less of fun as all unit teams participated in the debate competition, hackathon, programming, and find the bug. Lastly, day one didn’t end without starting the mobile legends competition.
Day two of the event is the continuation of several competitions of the previous day with the addition of other academic related games that will apply their knowledge in the current curriculum of IT. However, the third day of i3Day featured the talents of CIT students in literary, music, and arts. The events include modern dance, singing, traditional and digital poster making, and essay writing competitions alongside with other fun games like quiz bee and team feud, a version of family feud. i3Day is now starting to witness the different winners in day four as all events have their championship matches from sports, esports, and other games.
To end the i3Day 2024 with a social celebration, CIT students and teachers dressed up for a socialization night on October 11, 2024 at Diamond Hall, Supreme Hotel, Baguio City. Ginard Guaki, the dean of CIT, gave his appreciation and reminded everyone to enjoy as part of his speech to open the program which was indeed a fun night for everyone. This is also not possible with the contagious and positive vibes given by the host of the night – ma’am Nath of Nath-TARAKI Hosting & Events. Also, special thanks to Ivan and company of heyivanservices.com who captured fun and unforgettable moments as the official photographer and videographer of the night.
This night will also determine the overall winner of this year’s i3Day. Among the four units, the first place was awarded to Unit 2 who garnered a total point of 3490 which is 50 points ahead from the second place, Unit Four, with a total point of 3440. Third and fourth place were awarded to Unit One and Unit Three respectively. Aside from celebration of the CIT department, i3Day at the end of the day focuses attention on SDG 3, SDG 4, SDG 9, and SDG 11.
