The College of Information Technology (CIT) of King’s College of the Philippines (KCP) successfully conducted “Hack. Code. Connect.: Shaping the Future of Information Technology” on October 12, 2026, at the KCP Ebenezer Gymnasium. The activity formed part of the college’s SPARK Program, an initiative aimed at fostering innovation, technical competence, and industry-relevant skills among IT students.

Anchored on the theme “Empowering IT Students Through Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Programming, and Career Readiness,” the event brought together students and faculty members for a day of interactive learning, hands-on activities, and practical exposure to emerging technologies.
The program commenced with opening ceremonies, followed by welcome remarks and the Dean’s Talk delivered by Mr. Ginard Guaki, who also facilitated the morning activity, “Hacker Zero: From Zero to First Flag.” Designed as an introductory ethical hacking experience, Hacker Zero introduced students to cybersecurity fundamentals through guided challenges involving Linux commands, network reconnaissance, vulnerability identification, and flag discovery. The activity emphasized responsible and ethical hacking practices while encouraging participants to apply their technical knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a controlled learning environment.

Students engage in collaborative, hands-on learning during the event.
The afternoon sessions were facilitated by Mr. Melbert Marafo, who focused on the practical application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in software and web development. Through an interactive session, participants explored how AI-powered tools can support the development process, assist in coding, improve productivity, and enhance problem-solving. The session also featured an interactive question-and-answer segment, giving students opportunities to raise questions, exchange ideas, and gain further insights into the practical applications of AI in software development.

Adding excitement to the event, several students received prizes through their participation in the activities and interactive sessions. These moments encouraged active engagement and brought an element of fun to the learning experience, making the event both educational and enjoyable.

As part of the CIT SPARK Program, the activity reinforced the college’s commitment to extending learning beyond traditional classroom instruction. By incorporating hands-on cybersecurity activities and interactive discussions on AI-assisted development, CIT provided students with opportunities to explore emerging technologies and strengthen their technical competencies.
The event concluded with the recognition of facilitators, closing announcements, and a group photo, marking another meaningful initiative in the college’s continuing efforts to promote innovation, collaboration, and technological advancement.

Through SPARK, KCP-CIT continues to inspire and equip future IT professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to innovate, adapt, and thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
