The Commission on Higher Education(CHED) together with the 17 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), including King’s College of the Philippines (KCP), in the pursuit of regional and global quality and excellence, conducted Cordillera NEXUS conference with the theme: Uniting Higher Education Institutions for Internationalization Synergy. The activity was conducted on December 5 and 6, 2023 at University of the Cordilleras, Baguio City.
The program focused on the ceremonial uploading of Project HERITAGE, Cordi101 for WURI 2024,where Ms. Shirley Apolonio and Mr. Jefort Sab-it were recognized as one of the pioneering members of the project. Following this was an orientation given by Mr. CD Lee on the 16,000 vouchers sponsored by ReSkills, an international online learning platform for student training based in Malaysia, allocating 100 vouchers for each of the HEIs. The program was also highlighted by the Commitment signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with ReSkills Malaysia on valuing intergenerational and lifelong learning to sustain the bond in promoting locally responsive and globally competitive citizens for quality education. This commitment includes collaboration among CHED and the HEIs, and promoting ReSkills on its relevant educational content, monitoring the progress of the enrolled learners, and exploring opportunities offered by ReSkills for joint initiatives. The event concluded with the organization of the Internationalization (IZN) Council named Cordillera Association of International Relations Officers (CAIRO) where KCP was listed as one of the Board Members.
This momentous event marked the beginning of strengthening collaboration among HEIs in CAR and opened the door for the establishment of international linkages.//JMF
