In a united effort to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability, students, faculty, and staff from the College of Theology, College of Information Technology, and Trade Technical Education Department came together for the Adapt-a-Forest project on November 29, 2024.
The activity, held at the Communal Forest in Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet, was a collaborative initiative aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action. Volunteers engaged in pruning, cleaning the forest grounds, and planting Coffee trees, contributing to reforestation efforts and enhancing biodiversity in the area.
The project aimed to strengthen ecological awareness and responsibility among the academic community while fostering collaboration across departments. The volunteers’ hands-on participation in environmental conservation demonstrated a shared commitment to sustainability and climate resilience.
Faculty and staff from the College of Theology and Trade Technical Education Department expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to engage with students outside the classroom in a meaningful and impactful way.
As the day concluded, participants reflected on the importance of integrating environmental advocacy into academic and community endeavors. The Adapt-a-Forest project served as a powerful reminder of the potential for academic institutions to take the lead in addressing climate action goals while fostering collaboration and unity.
