La Trinidad, Benguet – King’s College of the Philippines (KCP) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing equitable access to education during the recent Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA) forum organized by the Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR). The forum, held on October 22, 2024, at El Cielito Hotel in Baguio City, united Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the region under the theme, “UniFAST @ 9: Continuous Commitment to Promoting Equitable Access to Quality Education in the Cordilleras.”

Representing KCP at the event were Jefort K. Sab-it, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) and HEI Focal Person for UniFAST, and Levy T. Tacio, Finance Staff. Sab-it highlighted KCP’s dedication to aligning with the latest UAQTEA guidelines to ensure seamless implementation of its programs. “Our commitment to equitable, quality education at KCP remains unwavering as we continue to adapt and improve our programs for the benefit of our students,” Sab-it stated.

A key highlight of the forum was the presentation by Atty. Ryan L. Estevez, OIC-Executive Director of UniFAST, who shared insights on the ongoing progress under UAQTEA. In his lecture titled “Understanding Access to Quality and Transformative Education,” Estevez emphasized the role of education in empowering students, particularly those from marginalized areas like the Cordilleras.

As the forum concluded, HEIs in the region collectively pledged to strengthen collaboration with CHED-CAR and UniFAST, advancing their shared mission of making education accessible to all.
