Honoring Legacy through the Reverend Kwon Young Soo Missionary Leadership Award

The Missionary Leadership Award commemorates the timeless legacy of Reverend Kwon Young Soo, whose influence in the Cordillera region reverberates across the globe. Reverend Kwon dedicated 34 years of his life to serving the people of the Cordilleras, embodying the essence of missionary work through his strong commitment to uplifting communities and empowering individuals. Reverend Kwon demonstrated visionary leadership and boundless compassion, striving tirelessly to address the diverse needs of the region. His remarkable achievements in founding the King’s College of the Philippines stand as testament to his dedication to education and holistic development. KCP continues to serve as a bastion of hope and opportunity, providing quality education and nurturing future leaders who are equipped to effect positive change in their communities. The Missionary Leadership Award therefore draws inspiration from Reverend Kwon’s exemplary life and values, seeking to honor individuals who follow in his footsteps. Recipients of this special award must exhibit a profound dedication to serving others and making a tangible difference through their leadership endeavors. Whether through volunteerism, advocacy, or innovative community projects, these young leaders demonstrate a deep sense of empathy, resilience, commitment to social justice and faithfulness to Christian Service. By recognizing and celebrating the achievements of these young individuals, the award aims to inspire a new generation of leaders who share Reverend Kwon’s vision for a more just, compassionate, and equitable world. Just as Reverend Kwon’s legacy continues to inspire and uplift countless lives, the recipients of this award are equipped to leave an indelible mark on their communities and beyond, carrying forward the spirit of missionary leadership for generations to come. Beginning this year, KCP shall honor young leaders who epitomize these virtues.

This year, this very special award is given to Ms. Jerren Batanes Tiboldec, an exemplary student from the Bachelor of Science in Psychology, who has been walking extra miles in serving not just her community but the world. Her advocacies in fostering peace and unity qualified her to be invited by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity to be part of the 70 young leaders who are tasked to develop programs that promote Peace and understanding in the Philippines. Our KCP young leader has also been involved in the development of resolutions that are geared towards international understanding, for the United Nations. Ms. Tiboldec will be flying to the United States as volunteer for the United Nations.
