Contributing to Academic Excellence through Comprehensive Training
In a dedicated pursuit of academic advancement and the pursuit of excellence in education,
King’s College of the Philippines (KCP) recently concluded the Faculty Research
Enhancement Program (FREP) conducted on the four consecutive Saturdays of October
2023. This initiative was meticulously crafted by the Institutional Quality Assurance (IQA)
Office to foster a culture of research excellence and support faculty members in advancing
their research endeavors, and to provide faculty with the resources, guidance, and
opportunities needed to enhance their research output and contribute significantly to KCP
research profile.
The program, marked by a series of comprehensive training sessions, was graced by the
presence of distinguished figures in academia. Among these notable individuals were Dr.
Apler Bansiong, Benguet State University (BSU)- College of Teacher Education (CTE)
Research Center Coordinator, who talked about the Statement of the Problems (SOPs) and
Framework Alignment; Dr. Janetlyn Balagtey, Director of the Higher Education Regional
Research Center(HERCC), who discussed Writing Evaluation Research; Dr. Mark Preston
Lopez, Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) of Mountain Province Polytechnic College
(MPSPC), who shared his expertise in Writing Qualitative Research; and Dr. Jimmy
Catanes, EPS II of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), who shared his
knowledge on Research Publication and Presentation.
The overarching objectives of the program encompassed providing faculty members access
to advanced research methodologies, specialized tools, and comprehensive training to
strengthen their research skills, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty
members, fostering interdepartmental cooperation to stimulate innovative research projects,
offering unwavering support to faculty in their endeavors to produce high-impact research
publications, presentations and proposals, and elevating the research profile of KCP by
showcasing the notable achievements and groundbreaking endeavors of its esteemed
faculty members.
As KCP continues to strongly support a conducive environment for scholarly pursuits, the
program is anticipated to have a lasting effect in various fields, building a reputation for
outstanding academics and innovation for the future.
