It’s a triumphant win for King’s College of the Philippines as two of its students, Ms. Cline O. Amdos and Ms. Sharmaine Yenisey T. Aliba, both from the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management of the College of Business Management, claimed the First Place in the Nutrition Month Cooking Contest with their exquisite dish.

The competition, dubbed as “Lutuing I-Cordillera na Abot Kaya: Pinggang Pinoy Edition,” was held at the University of Baguio in celebration of the 49th Nutrition Month and was organized by the National Nutrition Council CAR. This year’s contest focused on showcasing nutritional value, affordability, the use of indigenous ingredients or Cordilleran dish, palatability, and overall presentation.
KCP’s winning dish, Coffee Marinated Pork en Tapey Glaze, was lauded by the judges for its ingenuity, use of local ingredients, and exceptional flavor profile. The criteria for the competition resonated well with the principles taught at KCP’s College of Business Management, allowing the two promising students to shine.
In a close contest, the Cordilleran Steak by the Philippine Institute of Culinary Arts, Inc. secured the 2nd Place, and the 3rd place was taken by the Cordilleran Roulade by the Benguet State University. Consolation prizes were awarded to BSBT College, Inc. for their Chicken Tinappong and the University of the Cordilleras for their Cordi Buddha Bowl.
Speaking about the victory, Ms. Cline O. Amdos and Ms. Sharmaine Yenisey T. Aliba expressed their gratitude, saying, “It’s an honor to represent King’s College of the Philippines and to showcase our Cordilleran heritage through our dish. We hope that our success inspires more students to embrace and celebrate our rich culinary traditions.”
The college’s administration and faculty have expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of Ms. Amdos and Ms. Aliba. “They’ve brought honor to our institution, and their success is a testament to the quality of education and the hands-on training we provide here at KCP,” remarked Dr. Marijune A. Caro, Dean of the College of Business Management.
This victory adds another feather to the cap of King’s College of the Philippines’ acclaimed Hospitality Management program, further establishing its reputation for culinary excellence and innovation.
